The company –
quality and style

Mey story is focused on what really matters: sustainable production, premium quality, the finest fabrics, craftsmanship and the perfect finish. Where do these values come from? A family tradition that spans generations, a genuine love for quality products, and a highly developed sense of responsibility.

Less is more; minimalism is the luxury of our time. mey story stands for modern luxury, an antidote to excessive speed and fast fashion. At mey story, we recognize the demands that discerning men and women make of their clothes, and bring these to fruition through our products. Exceptional fits are combined with timeless elegance and genuine handmade quality. One of the materials we use to make our fabrics is hand-picked Peruvian Pima cotton, with its exceptional feel on the skin.

mey story tells a tale. A tale of passion, tradition, attention to detail and many years of experience. Since 1928 we have been manufacturing and processing the finest of fabrics in our own knitting factory at our headquarters in Albstadt (Germany) to produce high-quality products that are made to last. From the fibre right up to the finished article, we insist on the highest environmental standards.

“Knitting is the most beautiful process in our work. Millions of stitches mesh into another like the great experiences in our lives. ”

Central to the collection is the finest white T-shirt. The specially developed fit is based on many years of experience in product development and manufacturing in Germany. The material is made from extremely high-quality interlock which is produced when the finest yarns of extra-long-staple cotton are knitted together. This makes the fabric particularly soft, while the use of specially twisted yarns prevents warpage of the seams after washing.

Attention has been paid to every minute detail in the design. The elastic collar is intricately cut-to-size, while the cover seaming on the halter neck extends as far as the shoulders, thus preventing slipping.

Mey story started as a pure brand for fashion-conscious men who value high quality and who also find this appreciation in their lifestyle. We gradually expanded our mey story collection to include other segments. The loungewear impresses with its supple, soft fabric and particularly comfortable cut shapes and in the collection for women we work together with the illustrator Kera Till for special, limited T-shirts. This is how beautiful prints and prints for our ladies' T-shirts are made.

Since our company was founded in 1928, innovation has always been a big part of what we do. Using the finest of fabrics, while constantly improving our handcraft and our technology along with the fit and style of our products, we have continued to develop over the decades. Knitting our fabrics is at the very centre of what we do. This is because the fabric is the first element in a long production chain that leads to the perfect bodywear garment. Sewing requires attention to detail and lots of experience. The feel for handling and processing fine fabrics involves more than just learning the skill itself. You need to have a passion for it.

To produce products of the highest quality, you need a lot of experience and a perfect feeling for the small details. Normally– apart from yourself and your partner– nobody sees your underwear and it is therefore particularly important to convince you as a customer of our unique fit and quality. If you don't think about your underwear all day, we have done everything right. That is why we are consistently working on improvements, innovations, the quality and fit of our unique mey story collection.

The most important component of the majority of mey story products is our premium cotton. We obtain our cotton from different suppliers, some of whom we have worked with successfully for more than 30 years. Peruvian yarn is absolutely premium quality.

To give an example, we use premium cotton from Peru that is picked and sorted entirely by hand. This guarantees low levels of impurities and high quality, as only fully ripened cotton is harvested. To harvest all of the ripe cotton, the fields are picked up to three times, as the seed capsules do not all open at the same time on all of the plants.

“We feel greatest joy when we are surrounded by natural elements. That is why we choose our cotton very carefully.”

As an owner-managed family business dating back to 1928, mey story has always placed great value on delivering the highest level of quality, innovation and sustainability throughout the entire production process.

“We obtain our premium Peruvian Pima cotton from partners who we have worked with for more than 30 years. Peruvian yarn is absolutely premium quality. We pay close attention to the origins and quality of our other types of cotton as well. We use organic cotton yarn for our Organic collection.”

The fibres of Peruvian Pima cotton are particularly long (with a staple length of up to 40 mm), very fine and of high quality. As a result in the subsequent spinning process, the yarn is particularly soft, tear-resistant and durable – even when frequently worn and washed. These extra-long staple fibres can also be used to spin exceptionally fine yarn.

The new mey story project entitled “their story” brings together different characters in unique and exciting ways; characters whose products embody the same passion, creativity and attention to detail as the brand itself.

The project is a new and very personal expression of the premium brand’s values, the essence of the principles that have brought four generations of success to date. The ensuing pictorial and theme worlds form an impressive portrait of the individuality of each unique personality.
